Masseria Fasano

Six bedroom villa near the coast

Puglia/Basilicata/Calabria Villa 11

Fly into the heel of the boot to settle into you own private 17th century estate with its own look-out tower. Cool tuffa volcanic stone surrounds and comforts you as you discover all of the nooks and crannies of this cosy abode from its romantic canopy beds up high to the enchanting olive mill salon down below. You are surrounded by 100 year old olive trees who stand vigilant during the day and are illuminated at night emanating the magic of their wise silvery leaves at all times.

This olive estate is located in the northern part of Salento known as the land between two seas; charming, rich in ancient history and enogastronomic tradition. It is often called the Greek Salento due to the huge greek influence and “griko” aka ancient greek is still spoken here. An area filled with caves, untamed beaches, nature reserves and breathtaking views with traces of its long past from the greeks to the bysantines and from the romans to the turks. Everyone left something, resulting in the rich layered traditions seen here today.

The property, developed around the underground original olive mill that can be dated back to 1000 AD, consists of the Manor House, four cottages and the restored olive oil mill itself. The gardens are well cured with green lawns, local flowers rich with delicate perfumes, colorful plants and hidden away, the kids will find a tree house to play in! Everything is well lit and orchestrated in such a way that your choice of music can mingle with the Mediterranean breezes while you enjoy a wonderful Pugliese meal outdoors.

Enter the Manor House through a wide foyer with the living room and TV room complete with stereo surround sound and cinema set up off to the right. To the left you will find the dining room with working fireplace and super equipped kitchen and pantry. Take the wide antique staircase up to the second floor where you will find the master bedroom with a living room with working fireplace, dressing room, then an adjoining single bedroom, small study, en-suite bathroom with tub and shower and a terrace. The study and the bedroom have access to a wide veranda, which also can lead downstairs through private access.

Right next to the Manor House you will find the large cottage which has a short flight of stairs to access its two bedrooms; one double and the second with either twin beds or a double as well. There is a shared bathroom with a tub.

Below the large cottage you will find the old stalls - Stalla - which have been restored today creating a very unique bedroom with vaulted ceilings and an en suite bathroom with shower and access to its own private little garden.

On the opposite side of the lawn you will find the third cottage called Agrumento right near the entrance to the property. It has a living room with sofa bed, a double bedroom with an en suite bathroom with shower.

Nearby there is a spacious outdoor dining area set up with large table and chairs, a wood burning oven and a characteristic little cave/fountain all elements for the perfect setting for that typical Italian outdoor banquet you’ve dreamt about.

From the Manor House you will take a winding eclectic almost Alice in Wonderland type path to discover a sort of “winter garden” living room. It can be a tea room, a reading room, a secret meeting room or whatever you would like it to be as it has pleanty of charis and a comfortable sofa. The room opens onto a small garden which in turn gives way to the large terrace garden that houses a solarium and your fantastic 10 x 4 mt swimming pool that is 3 mt deep.

There is yet another cottage with vaulted ceilings that houses an enormous library with thousands of book, comfy couches to read on, a home cinema including about 1000 cataloged DVDs. You will find a full bathroom here as well.

Just outside the property there is a quaint underground ancient olive oil mill that you can use to seat up to 20 adults comfortably for a pictureque Pugliese dining experience.

This estate has maintained its charm, warmth, hospitality over many centuries and is ready to welcome you and your family and friends to make and share memories that will last a lifetime!
