Rome Apartments & Villas Apartment 9

A gorgeous former artist's studio in one of the most fashionable streets of North Trastevere. In the forties it became the most famous candle factory in Rome, partly due to its location, not far from the Vatican. It was turned back into a private home in the 1980's and has just recently been redone by one of the most famous interior designers in Italy.

The house is located on the Via degli Orti d'Alibert, one of the quietest and most romantic non through streets in the heart of Rome. Within 15 minutes walking distance you have the most important art sites in town as St Peter and the Vatican Museums, Castel Sant'Angelo, Piazza Navona, Piazza Farnese and Campo de' Fiori , San Pietro in Montorio with its Tempietto del Bramante, Santa Maria in Trastevere and many many more. So many that a full week won't be absolutely sufficient to visit them all. It will take you few minutes as well to reach the top of the Gianicolo hill, right behind casa Alibert, from which you will get the most stunning bird's eye view on Rome.

The house has 250 sq. meters (2,700 sq. feet) of terraces giving you the opportunity of enjoying and eating in the outdoor spaces, or just enjoying the sun. The four story, 418 sq. meters (4,500 sq. feet) house can sleep six in three comfortable bedrooms with three en suite bathrooms, has a private parking and large living and dining spaces. Next year two new bedrooms, both with en suite baths, will be restored on the ground floor , offering additional opportunities for a larger group.

If you feel lazy, in less than 10 mins walk you can reach: Botanical Gardens, the most beautiful in town, Villa Corsini, with its stunning gallery and Villa La Farnesina decorated with Raffaello's frescoes. Even though at few steps from the Tiber you won't hear any traffic noise and you will be able to park your car just in front of the entrance door.

Surely one of the most unique accomodations in Rome available for rent.

Trastevere Area

Glass Hostaria vicolo del Cinque 58, Tel. 39065833590 www.glasshostaria.it Situated in the heart of Trastevere, this restaurant boasts an ultra-modern design with an interesting play of light and slightly unsettling atmosphere. The excellent cuisine also features highly modern touches. One Michelin Star. Upper Moderate.

L’Antica Pesa 18 via Garibaldi Tel. 06 58 09 23 6 www.anticapesa.it/eng/ L’Antica Pesa is a beautiful old restaurant in the Trastevere district known for its history as well as its food. Dating back to the 17th century, the restaurant was originally a “refreshment stand” that served bread and wine to peasants who came and delivered grain to the Vatican’s customs office, located then on the same street. In the 19th century, it became an inn known for its excellent bocce court (bowling green). Today, that bowling green is a lovely garden in which on warm summer nights patrons may eat dishes such as artichokes with hazelnuts or calamari sautéed in garlic cream.

Alle Fratte Di Trastevere Via delle Fratte di Trastevere 49/50 Tel. 06-5835775 http://allefratteditrastevere.com Here you find staple Roman trattoria fare as well as dishes with a southern slant. This means spaghetti alla carbonara (with pancetta, eggs, and cheese) shares the menu with penne alla Sorrentina (with tomato, basil, and fresh mozzarella). For starters, the bruschette here are exemplary, as is the pressed octopus carpaccio on a bed of arugula. As for secondi, you can again look to the sea for a grilled sea bass with oven-roasted potatoes, or go for the meat with a fillet al pepe verde (green peppercorns in a brandy cream sauce). Service is always with a smile.

La Gensola Piazza Della Gensola 15 Tel. 06-5816312 www.osterialagensola.it/For Italian "mainlanders," going out for Sicilian fare is a culinary adventure involving out-of-the-ordinary tastes and flavor combinations, many thanks to the island's interesting mix of Arab, African, and Mediterranean influences. Antipasti include fresh tuna "meatballs" or gratineéd scallops with squid ink. Pastas, like a homemade tagliatelle with sun-dried tomatoes, baby calamari, and spicy peperoncino, are zippy on the palate. Sicily is Italy's largest island, so it's no surprise that its cuisine leans heavily on the bounty of the sea; a fresh fish like turbot with tomatoes, red onion, and capers is a wonderful choice. And for dessert, don't pass up an opportunity to try a cannolo or a piece of cassata cake. Moderate prices.

Ristorante Romolo a Trastevere 8 Via di Porta Settimiana Tel. 06-581-8284. The enchanting terraces and garden are surrounded by renaissance walls. A dinner in the garden is quite romantic. Traditional Roman cuisine. Moderate Prices.

Ferrara Piazza Trilussa 41 Tel. 06-58333920 www.enotecaferrara.it/EN This key corner of Trastevere real estate has become "the Ferrara block": what was once an enoteca has expanded into a restaurant, wine bar, and gastronomic boutique. The renovations have resulted in an airy, modernist destination, with the original space as it was, all wooden chairs and ceramic-tiled tables. Service can be iffy to slow, and in the end, the results coming out of the kitchen are not always inconsistent. A fine starter is ricotta-and-herb-stuffed zucchini flowers with crispy pancetta. Secondi include pigeon-quail alla diavola (spicy) with onions glazed in raspberry vinegar. But true to its enoteca roots, it's the award-winning wine selection that impresses here.
