Beautifully restored 3 bedroom villa just one km from the charming village of Gordes
Provence/France Villa 6
The picturesque past and the stylish present meet at this villa. This house began life as a traditional mas and was recently renovated and expanded into a luxury property with a sense of contemporary chic. Three bedrooms and a location on the outskirts of the hilltop town of Gordes make it ideal for an escape to the countryside with friends or a laid-back holiday with family.
The villa is set amid one and a half acres of enclosed gardens dotted with olive trees, shrubs and the green oaks. Take in the sweeping views of the landscape from the loungers on the terrace around the large pool, sip a glass of wine on one of the other patios or serve local produce from the barbecue. Other amenities range from Wi-Fi to an espresso machine and wine fridge.
While the stone walls, tiled roof and shuttered windows of the villa are characteristic of the region's historic architecture, its open-plan great room is decidedly modern. A living area, dining area and fully equipped kitchen are all laid out under a double-height cathedral ceiling with a mezzanine walkway, filled with unique artwork and flooded with light by windows on two sides.
Each of the villa's three bedrooms has a double bed and en-suite bathroom. Two of the three bedrooms have private entrances and could be used as in-law suites or honeymoon-style retreats within the property.
From the villa's setting just outside Gordes, it's easy to visit the renowned hilltop town to explore for an afternoon-or just to pick up fresh bread every morning. You'll find more shopping in the nearby town of Coustellet, and water sports, historic stone streets and even a melon festival in nearby Cavaillon.
Maximum 6 guests. Non-smoking villa. Children welcome. Check in: 4:00 PM. Check out: 10:00 AM. Saturday - Saturday bookings only.

La Citadelle-R. DE LA COMBE, 84220 GORDES Tel +33490721212 www.bastide-de-gordes.com Another excellent restaurant in the Bastide de Gordes Hotel, though not quite as formal as the previous listing. In the evening, take a seat in the fine and unmistakably 18C bourgeois dining room, or on the panoramic terrace to admire the sun setting over the Luberon. Enjoy dishes that pay tribute to the premium ingredients and flavours of Provence: asparagus, local tomatoes, lobster, and roast saddle of lamb. Upper moderate-expensive
Les Cuisines du Chateau-Pl. du Château, Gordes Tel 04–90–72–01–31 www.lescuisinesduchateau.com This tiny but deluxe bistro across from the château may look like a tourist trap, but step inside and you'll find friendly service and wonderful home cooking like roast Luberon lamb, beef with truffle sauce, and the like. The '30s-style bistro tables and architectural lines are a relief from Gordes's ubiquitous rustic-chic, and there is a revolving array of paintings by local artists, many of which are for sale. There are only 26 seats, so book well in advance. Inexpensive
Carcarille-RTE D'APT, 84220 GORDES Tel +33490720263 www.carcarille.com It's as if time has ground to a halt in this friendly family restaurant.
